I got my answer from the C$A - and in what must be record time for them!
I sent my response to the C$A on Monday, and received their response back today (Thursday)!
And the response? Despite my refusal, they are going to take the alleged debt from my "outcome" anyway.
So I have to ask - and I will - why did they bother seeking my authority if they intended to just take the money anyway? |

Ok so you have a direct line to god.
There can only be two reasons for that,
A. "They are unaccountable".
B. "They are unaccountable".
Why would they ask for authority ?
Ans. To justify their opinion. _________________ "The great tragedy of life is not that men perish

You are probably right. Pity it didn't work out for them. |

Gawd, this must have just about choked them!
As expected, my tax return resulted in a debt - I owed just over $100 to the Tax Office.
And as expected, despite me owing the Tax Office, our friends at the C$A held on to my tax return. And not just for the mandated 14 days allowable. No, it was closer to 28 days.
And the reason? Well, at first I imagined some spotty C$A drone labouring over their PC trying to collect $280 from a $100 debt, getting all in a tizzy when it wouldn't work. But the actual reason was that because we always over estimate our incomes for FTB purposes I had a bonus FTB payment, more than enough to cover my tax debt.
Of course, the ATO can offset a tax debt against an FTB payment, but the C$A cannot offset an alleged C$ from the same amount. So I got a refund cheque after all! That must have killed them, they were clearly trying to collect the alleged C$A debt from the FTB payment.
And even better, last week I got my $900 as well.
So, "Pffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffft" and "Up yours" to the C$A.
I should hit them up for 14 days interest. |
